- Launching joint AI manufacturing and AI security projects following strategic investment in A.I.MATICS
- Expanding AI infrastructure across manufacturing processes and new business domains through the integration of vision technology and AI
NAMUGA Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ: 190510) is ramping up its AI business in collaboration with its affiliate, vision AI solutions provider A.I.MATICS. To maximize business synergies, NAMUGA acquired a stake in A.I.MATICS last year through a third-party paid-in capital increase. This move strengthens NAMUGA’s access to state-of-the-art AI vision technology and supports the integration of AI capabilities into its 3D sensing solutions, further enhancing its technological competitiveness.
With AI rapidly emerging as a critical technology across industries, NAMUGA has recognized the importance of combining its expertise in 3D sensing hardware with AI-driven software capabilities. A.I.MATICS, a leader in vision AI, brings proven expertise and commercialization experience in AI-powered driver safety platforms and video recognition. Together, the two companies are leveraging their hardware and software strengths to accelerate AI automation in manufacturing and drive new business opportunities.
Key joint projects currently underway include:
- In-Out Process Monitoring (IOPM) system enabling factory managers to monitor manufacturing processes in real time via mobile devices.
- AI-based automated visual inspection system that detects defects, foreign materials, and structural inconsistencies.
- Smart Access System (SAS), a next-generation AI security solution integrating face recognition and behavioral analysis.
For the IOPM system, the companies are developing AI algorithms capable of detecting abnormalities or rising defect rates in production lines, issuing instant alerts, and analyzing root causes with preventative recommendations. The first phase—integrating factory equipment data with the cloud—has been completed, and the second phase, adding real-time monitoring and AI deep learning, is under development. Full deployment is targeted for October, when NAMUGA plans to showcase the system at its upcoming Tech Day 2025.
The AI-powered visual inspection system replaces manual inspection with full automation, delivering standardized test results while reducing labor requirements. By linking with IOPM, it also transmits real-time quality data, helping manufacturers simultaneously cut costs and improve product quality.
Through the SAS project, NAMUGA is building an advanced security solution that balances convenience with privacy. Powered by NAMUGA’s multi-camera modules and A.I.MATICS’ AI algorithms, the system not only verifies facial identity but also analyzes user behavior to block spoofing or unauthorized entry in real time. Leveraging hyperspectral sensor technology from Belgium-based Spectricity, the system can recognize not only facial geometry but also subtle skin tone details, enabling higher accuracy and security compared to existing solutions. Each biometric device is integrated into a unified access control platform, with commercialization planned for the first half of next year.
With these initiatives, NAMUGA is transitioning beyond its role as a camera module manufacturer into a broader AI company that combines smart sensing with data-driven analysis. Looking ahead, the company plans to extend its technologies to logistics, smart cities, and biomedical devices, opening new markets.
“Partnering with A.I.MATICS marks the beginning of next-generation AI vision systems that seamlessly integrate hardware and software,” said Don Lee, CEO of NAMUGA. “By building AI infrastructure applicable not only to smart factory automation but also to diverse industries, we aim to strengthen our position as a global AI leader.”
