- Integrating RGB imaging with its proprietary Stella LiDAR to enable seamless embedded integration into vehicles and robotic systems

- NVIDIA platform compatibility validated, accelerating expansion into mobility and robotics markets

SEONGNAM, South Korea, October 30, 2026 – NAMUGA Co., Ltd., a specialist in camera modules and 3D sensing solutions, announced today that it has officially initiated the development of a new Hybrid Sensor that integrates its proprietary Stella solid-state LiDAR with an RGB camera.

The development comes amid rapidly growing demand for hybrid sensing solutions capable of simultaneously processing visual (RGB) information and distance and spatial data (LiDAR) across the next-generation mobility and robotics markets.

In 2024, NAMUGA successfully introduced Stella, its proprietary solid-state LiDAR solution. Compared to conventional mechanical LiDAR systems, Stella features a significantly reduced form factor and improved structural durability. Its compact design enables seamless embedded integration, even in space-constrained environments such as vehicle interiors.

While LiDAR plays an essential role in 3D spatial perception, standalone LiDAR sensors face inherent limitations in identifying fine road markings, distinguishing traffic signal colors, and accurately detecting small obstacles such as thin wires or wire mesh. NAMUGA aims to address these challenges by combining the complementary strengths of RGB cameras, which capture detailed visual and color information, with solid-state LiDAR, which provides precise distance measurements.

A key differentiator of the new Hybrid Sensor lies in its proprietary software technology, which goes beyond simply combining hardware components to enhance overall perception performance.

By synchronizing camera and LiDAR data, projecting 3D spatial information onto a 2D image plane, and applying deep learning-based depth estimation algorithms, NAMUGA aims to improve the density and accuracy of distance perception.

Stella LiDAR, which serves as the foundation of this fusion technology, has completed performance validation on NVIDIA's platform, demonstrating its suitability for a wide range of applications, including mobility, robotics, and intelligent traffic management.

Building on these hardware capabilities, NAMUGA plans to further enhance the compactness and efficiency of its Hybrid Sensor system through the independent development of precision camera–LiDAR data synchronization technology, led by its dedicated software development team.

Youngkwon Yoon, CTO of NAMUGA, commented:

"We are seeing continued inquiries from customers and across the broader market regarding fusion solutions that integrate solid-state LiDAR with other sensing technologies. Through the development of the industry's first fusion technology combining solid-state LiDAR and RGB cameras, we aim to establish NAMUGA's own differentiated technology standards in the robotics and mobility sectors."
